Prospective Habitat homeowners must demonstrate a need for safe, affordable housing. Once selected, Habitat homeowners must partner with us throughout the process. This partnership includes performing “sweat equity,” or helping to build their own home or the homes of others in our home ownership program. Sweat equity can also include taking home ownership classes. Homeowners must also be able and willing to pay an affordable mortgage. Mortgage payments are cycled back into the community to help build additional Habitat houses.
The Habitat for Heroes program provides repairs and non-cosmetic improvements to qualified veterans and military households to help alleviate health and safety issues in and around your home. Homeowners pay 10% of the cost of these repairs.
The Brush with Kindness program is an exterior home preservation program that offers painting, landscaping and minor repair services to eligible homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. Homeowners pay 10% of the cost of repairs.
